Job Overview
Voltex (Pty) Ltd is seeking two reliable and hardworking Stores Assistants to join its Witbank branch. The successful candidates will support the branch’s warehouse and stores operations by ensuring that stock is received, stored, picked, prepared and dispatched accurately and efficiently.
This role is suited to candidates who are organised, physically capable, safety-conscious and comfortable working in a busy warehouse environment. Previous experience in stores or warehousing will be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The appointed Stores Assistants will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day movement and control of stock. Duties will include:
- Receiving incoming stock and checking items for quality and accuracy.
- Preparing and packing products for dispatch.
- Picking customer and internal orders according to authorised picking slips.
- Checking that the correct products and quantities have been selected.
- Completing and signing relevant picking slips and stock bin cards.
- Moving customer orders and required documentation to the designated dispatch area.
- Assisting with cable cutting where required and ensuring measurements and quantities are accurate.
- Supporting the loading and unloading of deliveries.
- Placing stock in the correct allocated storage areas.
- Maintaining accurate stock control and related administration.
- Assisting customers who arrive at the branch to collect their orders.
- Participating in regular stocktaking activities.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe stores environment.
- Following workplace safety procedures and using prescribed protective clothing where required.
- Ensuring that all applicable security procedures are followed.
- Performing additional stores-related duties as directed by the Branch or Stores Manager.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent is essential.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a stores or warehouse environment will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of products and stock handling.
- Understanding of basic warehouse procedures and processes.
- Knowledge of relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to follow instructions and work accurately with stock and documentation.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a branch and warehouse team.
