Key Responsibilities
As a Counter Sales Representative, your duties will include welcoming customers and determining what products or services they require. You will assist with sales enquiries, quotations and orders while ensuring that customers receive accurate and professional information.
You will be responsible for:
- Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional service at the trade counter.
- Taking customer orders and accurately capturing sales information.
- Preparing quotations and responding to customer enquiries.
- Providing product information and recommending suitable electrical products based on customer requirements.
- Handling sales enquiries received over the telephone.
- Processing sales orders and quotations on the company’s computer system.
- Checking product availability and advising customers about stock levels.
- Monitoring outstanding quotations and following up where necessary.
- Maintaining and following up on back orders to minimise delays.
- Keeping your own Back Order Report updated and ensuring outstanding orders are monitored.
- Following up regularly with relevant parties to ensure orders are fulfilled within expected timeframes.
- Ensuring that customers are kept informed when there are stock or delivery delays.
- Keeping the trade counter clean, organised and presentable.
- Ensuring that current specials, promotional material and brochures are available and up to date.
- Assisting colleagues and customers whenever operational requirements demand additional support.
- Maintaining good time management and completing assigned responsibilities efficiently.
- Ensuring every customer interaction is handled with courtesy, respect and professionalism.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates interested in this position should have Matric and relevant experience in a customer-facing sales environment. Previous experience selling electrical products in a retail or consumer environment will be particularly valuable.
An electrical qualification would be an advantage because the role requires the successful candidate to have a good understanding of electrical products and the ability to communicate product information clearly to customers.
