Join the Team at MCE Electric
MCE Electric, a reputable name in the electrical and warehousing industry, is seeking a meticulous and reliable individual to join our Warehouse Operations team in Johannesburg South. We are looking for a committed Warehouse Cleaner who takes pride in their work and understands the critical role that cleanliness and organisation play in a safe, efficient, and productive warehouse environment.
If you are a self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to workplace safety, we want to hear from you. This is an excellent opportunity to become a part of a stable and professional team within a growing company.
About the Role
As a Warehouse Cleaner at MCE Electric, you will be the backbone of our facility’s hygiene and housekeeping standards. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all areas of our warehouse—from the office spaces and restrooms to the loading bays and storage racks—are maintained to the highest level of cleanliness.
This role is more than just cleaning; it is about contributing to a culture of safety and operational excellence. By maintaining a spotless environment, you will directly support our team’s efficiency and help prevent workplace hazards. You will work independently, managing your daily routine while remaining an integral part of the warehouse team, reporting directly to the line manager and ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.
Key Responsibilities: Ensuring a Pristine Work Environment
· Comprehensive Daily Cleaning: Perform thorough daily cleaning of all designated areas, including warehouse floors, walkways, packing areas, administrative offices, kitchenettes, and restroom facilities. This involves sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to remove all dirt, debris, and contaminants.
· Waste Management: Take full responsibility for the proper disposal of waste. This includes emptying all bins regularly, segregating waste where required, and ensuring that all refuse is disposed of in accordance with company environmental and safety procedures.
· Restroom and Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain impeccable standards in the kitchen and bathroom areas. This includes washing and replacing hand towels, cleaning sinks and countertops, ensuring mirrors and fixtures are spotless, and consistently refilling essential consumables such as hand soap, toilet paper, and sanitizer.
· Loading Bay and Storage Area Upkeep: Pay special attention to high-traffic areas such as loading bays and storage zones. Ensure these areas are free from debris, spillages, and obstacles that could impede workflow or create safety risks for forklift operators and other personnel.
· Equipment Care and Inventory Management: Handle all cleaning equipment and materials with care. You will be responsible for ensuring that equipment like floor scrubbers, mops, and vacuums are stored safely and in good working order. You will also monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and report low stock to your line manager to ensure uninterrupted operations.
· Hazard Identification and Reporting: Act as the “eyes and ears” of the facility. Proactively identify and report any maintenance issues, potential hazards, spillages, or damages to the supervisor immediately. Your vigilance is crucial in preventing accidents and maintaining a safe workplace.
· Adherence to Safety Protocols: Strictly follow all company health, safety, and operational policies. This includes the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), safe handling of cleaning chemicals, and proper signage when cleaning wet floors.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate for this Warehouse Cleaner position is a dependable, physically fit individual who takes initiative. You don’t need to be managed closely; instead, you see what needs to be done and do it. Your background will show a proven track record of reliability in a similar industrial or commercial setting.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
· Educational Background: A Matric (Grade 12) certificate is required.
· Proven Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of verifiable cleaning experience, ideally within a warehouse, industrial, manufacturing, or large commercial environment.
· Safety Awareness: A solid, basic understanding of health and safety practices, particularly in an industrial setting (e.g., knowledge of hazard reporting, spill management, and safe chemical use).
· Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting, and operating cleaning machinery.
Required Skills and Attributes:
· Reliability & Punctuality: A strong track record of consistent attendance and punctuality is non-negotiable.
· Independence: The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, managing your time and tasks efficiently.
· Communication: Good verbal communication skills to interact professionally with team members and supervisors, and to report issues clearly.
· Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to cleaning, ensuring no area is overlooked and that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
