The City of Tshwane is seeking dedicated and technically minded individuals to join its Energy and Electricity Business Unit as Control Room Attendants. If you have experience with SCADA systems and thrive in a high-pressure environment, this is your chance to contribute to the vital electricity distribution network of the capital city.
These positions are based at the Capital Park Depot and fall under the Distribution Operations and Maintenance division. The roles are critical to ensuring the stability and reliability of Tshwane’s power supply.
Job Purpose
To effectively monitor the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, promptly report system indications, and manage fault responses to ensure optimal control room functioning.
Salary & Remuneration Package
· Job Level: T9
· Basic Salary Scale: R330 816,00 – R459 456,00 per annum
· Estimated Total Remuneration Package: R453 001,00 – R616 736,00 per annum
(The all-inclusive package is based on the key individual’s proven experience and qualifications.)
Key Appointment Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
· Education: Grade 12.
· Certification: Valid Safety Regulations Certificate.
· Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of career-related experience in operating SCADA and DMS (Distribution Management Systems) .
· Clearance: Must be willing to undergo a criminal record check and provide fingerprints to the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost.
· Shift Work: Willingness and ability to work shifts, stand-by duties, and overtime as required.
· Geographical Flexibility: Applicants must accept that they may be placed anywhere within Tshwane as determined by departmental management.

Primary Functions
· System Monitoring: Continuously monitor the SCADA system for indications, alarms, and network faults.
· Reporting: Accurately log and report all system events and anomalies to the relevant teams.
· Administration: Keep detailed records and provide general office assistance to support all control room functions.
· Service Delivery: Liaise with internal and external clients to ensure seamless communication regarding network status.
