Job Overview
Rand Water, the largest water utility in Africa and a trusted leader in public service excellence, is seeking three (3) dedicated and hygienically minded Kitchen Aides to join our catering team at the Rietvlei site in Glenvista.
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen environment. By maintaining stringent sanitation protocols, you will play a critical role in preventing the spread of germs and bacteria, thereby safeguarding the health of all staff members who utilize our dining facilities. Minimum Requirements
· Educational Qualification: Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
· Professional Training: A recognized Basic Cooking Course is required.
· Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven, verifiable experience working in a professional kitchen or food preparation environment.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
· Work Ethic: Must be flexible and willing to work overtime, shifts, or extended hours as operational demands require.
· Soft Skills: Strong customer service orientation; ability to work effectively within a team; self-disciplined and capable of adhering strictly to daily schedules.
Primary Duties
· Sanitation & Cleaning: Thoroughly wash, sanitize, and store all pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, and kitchen utensils according to prescribed hygiene standards.
· Surface Maintenance: Ensure all floors, walls, preparation tables, and store shelves in the kitchen, scullery, and storage areas are spotless and disinfected.
· Operational Rotation: Demonstrate flexibility by rotating through ALL areas within the kitchen when required to do so.
· Food Preparation Support: Assist senior chefs and cooks in basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling dishes.
· Meal Service Assistance: Support the catering team in serving meals to staff during peak hours, ensuring portion control and friendly service.
