Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and energetic General Assistant to join our retail team in Ennerdale. Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
· Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 qualification with at least one year of work-related experience OR Grade 12 with no prior work experience required
· Proficiency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Ennerdale geographical area
· Valid South African ID or valid work permit
· Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
· Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
· Capability to work effectively under pressure
Key Performance Areas:
Customer Service Excellence
The successful candidate will serve as the first point of contact for customers within their designated area. You will be responsible for advising and assisting customers with product selection, answering queries with confidence, and ensuring that every interaction leaves a positive impression. When customer complaints arise, you will handle them professionally and escalate appropriately to ensure swift resolution. Your friendly demeanor and product knowledge will contribute directly to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Merchandising Standards
Maintaining the visual appeal of the store is a critical component of this role. You will ensure that the bulk stock area is merchandised safely and aligns perfectly with the store layout plan. Your responsibilities will include executing planograms accurately, ensuring that all products are displayed attractively and in the correct locations. You will play a vital role in making sure that the shopping environment is organized and that customers can easily locate the items they need.
Housekeeping and Store Appearance
A clean and safe store is non-negotiable. You will be tasked with keeping your assigned area free of obstacles and hazards, ensuring that stock is merchandised immediately upon receipt. Customers must be able to navigate your aisle without risk of injury or frustration. You will be responsible for accurate shelf price labelling throughout your area, ensuring that all pricing information is correct and visible. Daily checklists must be completed as required, including schedules for canteen and toilet or shower facilities maintenance.
Safety Compliance
Your commitment to safety will protect both customers and colleagues. You will adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, including the proper use of safety gear and equipment. Within your area of responsibility, you must ensure that racking and bulk stock are merchandised safely, allowing for easy movement throughout the store. Any safety discrepancies, potential hazards, or maintenance issues must be reported immediately to the Store Manager to prevent accidents and maintain a secure shopping environment.
Stock Loss Management
Protecting company assets is a shared responsibility. You will be expected to monitor your area for damaged stock and report these findings to the Store Manager promptly. By maintaining vigilance and following proper stock handling procedures, you will contribute to minimizing losses and preserving inventory integrity.
