A leading catering and hospitality services company is currently recruiting for a Food Service General Assistant to join its professional operations team based in Sandton. The successful candidate will support daily kitchen operations by assisting chefs and cooks with meal preparation, serving food, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all food service areas remain organised and hygienic at all times. Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar food service or kitchen support role
- A culinary qualification will be advantageous
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Willingness to perform various operational duties when required
- Criminal and credit verification checks will be conducted
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and production of meals
- Support cooks and chefs during food preparation processes
- Serve meals and place food items on the serving line
- Ensure serving stations remain fully stocked and clean
- Store and record leftover food according to procedures
- Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, canteen, and dining areas
- Wash and clean kitchen equipment and utensils when required
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
- Assist with additional duties requested by management
- Contribute positively to maintaining efficient catering operations
