Job Overview

Enaex is looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Driver to join its operations in Limpopo. The successful candidate will be responsible for the secure, compliant and efficient transportation and delivery of products, while maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, documentation and operational discipline.

This position is suited to an experienced driver who has worked in a supply chain environment involving explosives products and understands the importance of following strict transportation, handling and emergency procedures. The role requires someone who can work responsibly with heavy products, comply with relevant safety requirements and maintain accurate records throughout each trip.

The successful applicant will play an important role in ensuring that deliveries reach the correct destinations safely and on schedule. This includes preparing the vehicle, checking assigned products, planning suitable routes, completing deliveries, assisting with offloading and maintaining the required operational documentation.

Key Responsibilities

The Driver will be responsible for receiving assigned products and checking that they are correctly prepared for transportation. Before leaving for a delivery, the driver must verify product information, inspect the integrity of the required explosives seals and confirm that delivery details and destinations are correct.

Efficient route planning will be an important part of the role. The successful candidate must organize deliveries in a practical manner while considering safety, travel requirements and delivery schedules. All journeys must be conducted in accordance with applicable road traffic laws and the company’s requirements for transporting explosives.

The Driver will also be expected to ensure that products are loaded correctly and securely onto the vehicle. Safe handling is essential, particularly because the position involves working with products that require strict control and compliance procedures.

At the delivery destination, the driver will assist with the safe offloading of products. This includes communicating with the recipient, confirming the agreed offloading procedure, helping to secure the area and following the required sequence of activities. Safety procedures must be followed throughout the entire loading, transportation and offloading process.

Vehicle compliance is another major responsibility. Daily vehicle inspections must be completed, with particular attention given to the condition of the vehicle and the availability of essential safety equipment. The driver must ensure that the relevant driver’s licence and Explosives Operators Card remain valid and that equipment such as fire extinguishers is present and in suitable condition.

Accurate recordkeeping is also required. The successful candidate will maintain a daily driver logbook containing information such as completed deliveries, distances travelled and other relevant trip details. Records must be completed accurately and submitted within the required deadlines.

The driver will further be responsible for monitoring fuel consumption. This involves recording fuel expenditure, mileage achieved per tank and other relevant fuel information, as well as ensuring that fuel reports are submitted according to the prescribed process.

  • Ability to understand and follow strict safety and compliance requirements.

Physical and Working Requirements

The position requires an individual who is physically capable of performing duties associated with loading, handling and offloading products. The successful candidate should be able to regularly lift and move items weighing up to 25 kg.

Applicants should also be comfortable with work that involves prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending and reaching. The role may involve working in warehouse environments where employees can be exposed to different temperatures and varying levels of noise.
