Job Description
We are looking for a physically fit and dependable General Worker to join our logistics team as a Drivers Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the safe loading and offloading of stock, supporting the driver with deliveries, and ensuring that all warehouse and food safety standards are met. This position requires a team player who is comfortable with long-distance travel and flexible working hours.
Key Responsibilities
· Loading and Offloading: Assist in loading outbound stock onto trucks with precision, ensuring proper balance to prevent shifting during transit. Offload inbound stock upon arrival, verifying quantities against the Proof of Delivery (POD).
· Stock Integrity: Inspect all goods during loading and offloading for any visible damages or discrepancies, reporting issues immediately to supervisors.
· Returns Management: Handle returned goods by packing them securely and neatly, ensuring they are stored in the correct designated areas.
· Driver Assistance: Accompany the driver on long-distance routes, assist with navigating, paperwork management, and physical handling of deliveries at customer sites.
· Vehicle Upkeep: Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the truck, ensuring it is tidy and free of debris after each trip.
· Stock Picking: Assist in picking and stacking stock within the warehouse according to established procedures, ensuring no damaged goods are selected for dispatch.
· Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to Safe Working Procedures and comply with Food Safety Standards (FSSC 22000) at all times.
· Housekeeping: Keep the work environment, including loading bays and warehouse aisles, clean, organised, and free from potential hazards.
Minimum Requirements
· Education: Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4)
· Licence: Code 10 or 14 driver’s licence (Advantageous, not required)
· Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is beneficial but not mandatory

· Flexibility to work outside of normal operating hours when operational demands require
· Ability to adapt to additional tasks as needed by the business
