Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting freight safely and efficiently while complying with company procedures. Daily responsibilities include:
- Collecting and delivering customer cargo.
- Performing vehicle inspections before every trip.
- Reporting vehicle defects or mechanical faults immediately.
- Loading and offloading cargo carefully to prevent damage.
- Verifying delivery and collection addresses before travelling.
- Maintaining regular communication with the depot during deliveries.
- Collecting and distributing freight according to scheduled routes.
- Keeping trucks and trailers clean and presentable.
- Completing delivery documentation, collection records, and proof of delivery (POD) paperwork accurately.
- Following all road safety regulations and company transport procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements before applying:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Valid Code 14 driver’s licence with no endorsements.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Between 3 and 5 years of relevant heavy vehicle driving experience.
- Good English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Strong knowledge of roads and routes across Gauteng.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working under pressure.
- Willingness to work shifts when required.
- Availability to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays when operational needs demand it.
