Clicks Group is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for Shop Assistant / Cashier positions at its Kyalami Corner store in Midrand, Gauteng. The successful candidates will play an important role in ensuring that customers receive efficient, professional and friendly service throughout their shopping experience. The position combines cashiering, customer service, merchandising and general store-support responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant / Cashier, you will be expected to operate the point-of-sale area efficiently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and customer service. Your responsibilities will include processing customer purchases, scanning products correctly and receiving payments using the approved store procedures.
You will also be responsible for handling cash carefully and ensuring that all transactions are completed accurately. Attention to detail is important, particularly when processing payments, applying applicable rewards and assisting customers with Clicks ClubCard-related transactions.
A major part of the role will involve engaging with customers and promoting the Clicks ClubCard programme. You may be required to explain the benefits of membership and encourage eligible shoppers to join the programme, helping the store achieve its customer participation objectives.
The successful candidate will also assist customers by keeping them informed about current promotions, special offers and relevant products. Providing accurate information and creating a positive shopping experience will be an important part of the position.
In addition to cashier duties, you will help maintain attractive and organised merchandise displays. This includes following store merchandising standards, keeping shelves and relevant areas neat, and supporting general housekeeping activities to ensure the store remains welcoming and presentable.
Employees are expected to remain familiar with the products, product ranges, promotions and events available in the store so they can confidently respond to customer questions and provide appropriate assistance.
Skills and Knowledge Required
Candidates should have basic mathematical ability and be comfortable working with numbers and financial transactions. An understanding of retail or FMCG operations, merchandising and promotional activities will be advantageous.
Knowledge of basic stock-management procedures and customer-service principles will also be beneficial.

Minimum Requirements
The essential educational requirement is Grade 12 / Matric.
Candidates with Grade 12 Mathematics at 50% or higher and English at 50% or higher will have an added advantage.
Previous experience in a customer-facing position within a retail, FMCG or store-operations environment is desirable, although candidates who can demonstrate strong customer-service and interpersonal abilities may also be considered.
