Key Responsibilities: What You Will Do
As the face of our store, the Shop Assistant / Cashier plays a pivotal role in shaping the customer experience. Your primary objective is to deliver service excellence through efficient operational execution and engaging customer interaction. Your daily tasks will include:
· Point of Sale (POS) Operations: Executing all operational activities at the till point with speed and precision. You will ensure high levels of accuracy when scanning merchandise and processing payments.
· Cash Handling Excellence: Managing cash and card transactions safely and responsibly, adhering to strict cash-up procedures to maintain financial integrity.
· Customer Service & Brand Ambassadorship: Acting as a brand ambassador for Clicks. You will provide a friendly, professional, and efficient service, ensuring that every customer leaves with a positive impression.
· Promoting the Clicks ClubCard: Proactively promoting the benefits of the Clicks ClubCard to customers. You will enroll new members and educate existing ones on how to maximize their rewards, helping the store achieve its participation targets.
· Sales & Promotions: Informing customers about current in-store promotions and special offers to positively influence sales and enhance the value they receive.
· Merchandising & Housekeeping: Maintaining high standards of visual merchandising and general housekeeping. You will ensure the store is always presentable, fully stocked, and aligned with visual merchandise standards.
· Product Knowledge: Staying updated on the latest product ranges, health and beauty trends, and promotional events to provide accurate and helpful information to customers.
Qualifications & Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need a combination of essential educational qualifications and a strong customer-centric mindset.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
· Essential: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
· Desirable: A pass mark of 50% or higher in both Mathematics and English at Grade 12 level is preferred, as this supports the numeracy and communication demands of the role.
Experience:
· Essential: No prior experience is mandatory, making this an excellent entry-level opportunity for motivated individuals.
· Desirable: Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a Retail or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment is advantageous.
