Job Description
Thorburn Security Solutions is recruiting vigilant and professional Grade C Security Officers to join our operations in Gauteng. The successful candidates will ensure the safety and security of clients across various sectors, including Lifestyle Estates, Corporate and Financial Services, Logistics, Retail, and Industrial sites. This role reports directly to the Security Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Control and monitor all access points, permitting entry and exit of employees and visitors.
· Conduct regular foot patrols of buildings, perimeters, and equipment.
· Monitor CCTV cameras, alarms, and security surveillance systems.
· Respond promptly to emergencies, security breaches, and irregularities.
· Complete detailed and accurate incident, occurrence, and observation reports.
· Enforce site security procedures, rules, and company policies.
· Manage traffic flow and direct drivers at access points when required.
· Identify potential security threats, suspicious behaviour, and site vulnerabilities.
· Maintain professional conduct while delivering excellent customer service to staff and clients.
· Support fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and accident investigations.
· Conduct preventative checks on issued security equipment and report defects.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
· Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, clients, and visitors.
· High attention to detail during patrols and surveillance.
· Ability to identify and respond to potential risks and security threats.
· Problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
· Discipline, integrity, and reliability in all duties.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Physically fit to perform patrol duties and stand for extended periods.
· Good report writing and incident recording skills.
· Knowledge of security procedures, emergency response, and access control systems.
Minimum Requirements
· Valid PSIRA Grade C certificate.
· Grade 12 / Matric.
· Previous security industry experience.
· Knowledge of access control, CCTV, and alarm systems.
· Strong observation and reporting skills.
· Ability to handle conflict situations calmly and professionally.
· Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
· Physically fit and medically healthy.
Advantageous Requirements
· Valid driver’s licence.
· Business purpose firearm competency.
