Job Purpose
The appointed candidate will assist with various warehouse and store-related responsibilities, including receiving deliveries, organising stock, preparing orders and maintaining cleanliness within the working environment.
The role also involves ensuring that stock is handled correctly, stored safely and prepared accurately for dispatch. The successful candidate must follow workplace procedures, maintain safety standards and work effectively with other team members.
Minimum Requirements

- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- At least one year of experience in a similar working environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
The General Worker will be responsible for supporting the daily activities of the stores department. Main duties will include:
1. Stock Receiving and Storage
- Receive and safely unload incoming deliveries.
- Move products and materials to their designated storage areas.
- Arrange and stack stock correctly to maximise available storage space.
- Check received and dispatched goods for accuracy and visible damage.
- Report any stock discrepancies or quality concerns to the relevant supervisor.
2. Picking, Packing and Dispatch
- Select and prepare stock according to dispatch requirements.
- Ensure that the correct quantities and types of products are picked.
- Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
- Transfer goods from storage areas to the appropriate dispatch locations.
- Ensure that outgoing stock is handled carefully and accurately.
3. Equipment and Warehouse Maintenance
- Use forklifts and other approved equipment when authorised and appropriately trained.
- Keep warehouse equipment, tools and materials clean and organised.
- Conduct basic equipment inspections and report maintenance requirements.
- Assist with general building, grounds and equipment maintenance when required.
4. Stock Control and Housekeeping
- Participate in physical stocktaking activities.
- Follow stock rotation procedures to prevent unnecessary losses.
- Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the store.
- Ensure that stock is protected against theft, damage and unnecessary wastage.
5. Health, Safety and Teamwork
- Follow company health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Comply with relevant HACCP and ISO procedures.
- Maintain security within the store and protect company inventory.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to achieve daily operational targets.
- Take responsibility for assigned duties and complete tasks within the required timeframes.
- Communicate challenges, delays or potential problems to the appropriate people.
