Premier is currently recruiting for a permanent Link Driver position based at the Polokwane Depot in Limpopo. Position Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting products safely and efficiently from one destination to another while ensuring deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule. The position requires an individual with strong driving experience, excellent vehicle handling skills, and the ability to work independently while following company procedures and road safety regulations at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Link Driver will take full responsibility for the assigned vehicle and ensure that it remains in excellent working condition. Daily vehicle inspections must be completed before every trip, with any faults or mechanical concerns reported immediately to the relevant department.
The role also involves completing inspection documentation accurately and ensuring the vehicle is properly refuelled when necessary. Drivers will be expected to load and off-load food products and pallets while ensuring goods are secured correctly for transportation.
Maintaining cleanliness and general upkeep of the truck and all associated equipment forms an important part of the role. The successful candidate must ensure the vehicle is always roadworthy and compliant with company standards.
Drivers will be expected to follow all Road Traffic Act regulations and operate the vehicle responsibly to protect both company assets and other road users. Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements is essential throughout all daily operations.
The role also includes checking delivery documentation against the actual load to ensure quantities are correct before departure. Drivers must ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and obtain signed proof of delivery documents from clients upon delivery completion.
Applicants should also be comfortable navigating routes within Gauteng and surrounding areas while maintaining excellent time management skills to meet delivery schedules.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates interested in this opportunity must possess a Grade 12 certificate together with a valid Code 14 driver’s licence and a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP). The licence must be unendorsed and legally compliant for heavy vehicle transportation.
Experience Required
Applicants should have between five and ten years of professional driving experience operating heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Experience driving Scania, Mercedes-Benz, and MAN trucks will be considered highly advantageous.
Previous experience within the logistics, transport, or distribution environment will strengthen an application, especially where product delivery accuracy and customer service formed part of the daily responsibilities.
