Join Tiger Brands: Logistics Controller Opportunity in Maitland
It’s fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they’re doing!
Tiger Brands, proudly Africa’s largest listed manufacturer of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Logistics Controller to join our team at the Jungle Oats Maitland Logistics Distribution Center.
We are looking for a multi-skilled logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. If you have a sharp eye for detail, advanced Excel skills, and a passion for supply chain accuracy, this is your chance to impact millions of lives daily with our iconic, award-winning brands.
Your Mission in Logistics
As a Logistics Controller, you will be the administrative backbone of our multi-category logistics function. You will ensure the seamless flow of stock—from third-party manufacturers to customer delivery—by managing critical data entry, documentation, and system controls in Oracle.
You won’t just be processing orders; you will be safeguarding the integrity of our inventory, optimizing back-order management, and acting as a super-user for our PRS scanning system. When the Logistics Administrator is away, you step up. When online meetings clash, you represent the department. You are the all-rounder who keeps the Jungle Logistics department running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities: What You Will Do
Order Processing & System Management
· Process ex-factory customer orders and depot internal requisitions with high accuracy.
· Download all Distribution Center (DC) orders from Oracle ERP, compile data in Excel, and review with the Logistics Manager.
· Generate and print invoices and delivery notes post-dispatch, ensuring stock confirmation aligns with signed pick slips.
Inventory & Receiving Control
· Capture and receipt production packed by 3rd party manufacturers (including Pauls Muesli and AGT) into Oracle.
· Manage GRV (Goods Received Voucher) stock receipts once confirmed by external packers.
· Capture Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) into Oracle to manage reverse logistics.
Logistics Administration & Compliance
· Oversee all Chep documentation daily in Portfolio for both incoming and outbound vehicles, and finalize the Chep month-end process.
· Process all expense purchase orders and control transporter invoices, ensuring accuracy before payment release.
· Verify all outbound trucks in the Trans Nova system before loading as a backup for the Logistics Administrator.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
· Run the daily back-order report and ensure orders are cancelled using the correct reason codes to maintain data integrity.
· Act as the Super User for the PRS scanning system, ensuring the team utilizes the technology effectively.
· Demonstrate leadership by taking the “Tiger perspective,” thinking innovatively, and staying a step ahead in process improvement.
What You Will Bring to the Table
Education & Experience
· Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
· Diploma in Logistics Management or a related tertiary qualification.
· Minimum 3 years of operational experience in a logistics or distribution environment.
· FMCG logistics experience is non-negotiable (essential for understanding the pace and complexity of our industry).
Technical Proficiency
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivots, v-lookups, data analysis).
· Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
· Experience with Oracle ERP is highly advantageous.
· Familiarity with Chep Portfolio and Trans Nova systems.
Core Competencies
· Problem Solving & Decision Making: You don’t just identify issues; you implement solutions.
· Integrity: You handle documentation and stock control with the highest ethical standards.
· Communication: You liaise effectively with 3rd party manufacturers, transporters, and internal teams.
· Adaptability: You are ready to implement change processes and new strategies seamlessly.
