Metropolitan Life is offering an exciting 12-month learnership programme aimed at unemployed young people who want to develop their professional skills, gain valuable workplace exposure and work towards an industry-related qualification. The programme is scheduled to begin in October 2026.
Human Capital Learnership Opportunity
The learnership is designed for individuals who are interested in building a career in areas such as customer service, administration, sales and financial services. Successful learners will receive an opportunity to combine theoretical studies with practical workplace experience while being exposed to professionals within the insurance environment.
Participants will work in a professional setting and develop an understanding of how an established financial services organisation operates. The programme also provides learners with the opportunity to work towards a Wealth Management NQF Level 4 qualification.
This can be an important first step for unemployed youth who want to strengthen their CV, develop workplace competencies and gain experience that can support future employment opportunities.
About Metropolitan Life
Metropolitan is a well-established South African financial services brand with a long history of providing financial solutions to individuals and communities. The organisation focuses on helping customers achieve greater financial security through products and services covering areas such as life insurance, funeral cover, savings, retirement solutions, health-related financial products and hospital cash-back cover.
The brand also has a presence in several African countries, making the learnership an opportunity to gain exposure to a recognised organisation within the broader financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
Learners appointed to the programme will be expected to participate actively in both the learning and workplace components of the programme.
Responsibilities may include completing assigned theoretical work, assessments and other requirements associated with the qualification. Learners will also be expected to handle administrative tasks accurately and within agreed deadlines.
The successful candidates may also be responsible for preparing, organising and distributing documents according to required standards. Good attention to detail will therefore be important when dealing with administrative information.
Another important part of the role involves assisting with customer and stakeholder queries. Learners will be expected to communicate professionally, identify the nature of queries received, direct them to the appropriate people and assist where possible with resolving client-related matters.
Maintaining a professional and organised workplace will also form part of the learner’s responsibilities. This includes following applicable office housekeeping standards and ensuring that assigned duties are completed efficiently.
