Role Overview
The Handyman will play a key role in ensuring that all building maintenance activities are executed efficiently and within agreed timelines. The position involves identifying faults, performing repairs, and supporting the smooth operation of essential building systems and infrastructure.
You will be responsible for maintaining both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the property, ensuring that all maintenance issues—whether critical or routine—are addressed promptly. In addition, the role includes assisting with installations, minor projects, and ensuring that all work complies with safety and quality standards.
Administrative duties such as reporting, record-keeping, and tracking maintenance activities are also an important part of this position.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, including but not limited to:
Carpentry Work
- Repairing cupboards, shelves, and other wooden structures as needed
- Installing ceiling boards, cornices, and related fittings
- Conducting minor furniture repairs
- Mounting fixtures such as whiteboards and picture frames
- Installing and repairing door locks, handles, and fittings
Painting and Finishing
- Preparing surfaces for painting, both interior and exterior
- Painting walls, ceilings, doors, window frames, and skirting
- Performing routine touch-ups and maintenance painting
- Marking parking bays, road lines, and signage areas annually
- Maintaining outdoor furniture and signage poles
General Maintenance
- Tiling and carpet tile installation or repairs
- Ceiling tile installation and maintenance
- Basic welding tasks
- Hanging doors and installing door frames
- Interpreting technical drawings for maintenance tasks
- Supporting small-scale building projects and renovations
Additional Duties
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Performing ad hoc maintenance tasks as required
- Assisting with equipment installations, relocations, and repairs
- Maintaining tools and ensuring safe usage of equipment

- Basic plumbing knowledge
- Waterproofing techniques
- Partitioning and RhinoLite experience
- Brickwork and plastering skills

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- Relevant technical qualification from a TVET college or similar institution
- 3 to 5 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field
Practical experience in multiple maintenance disciplines will be highly advantageous.
