Job Description
As a General Worker in the Bread Packing department, your primary objective is to execute daily targets efficiently while strictly adhering to food safety and hygiene protocols. You will play a critical role in the production lifecycle—from stacking and picking to damage control—ensuring that every loaf that leaves our factory meets Premier’s high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be the backbone of the production floor. Your day-to-day tasks will include:
· Production & Quality Assurance: Maintain a high-quality product by adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure the integrity of the product is never compromised.
· Housekeeping & Hygiene: Uphold high housekeeping standards to comply with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
· Equipment Operation: Effectively operate and maintain scales and various production equipment as part of planned asset maintenance.
· Stock Management: Assist in the stacking of crates, picking of stock, and managing damage repacks to minimize waste.
· Administration: Maintain accurate documentation and record control. Your attention to detail is crucial for tracking batch requirements and production inputs.
· Efficiency: Drive continuous improvements on the line by identifying bottlenecks and working collaboratively with the team to solve them.
Skills and Attributes Required
To succeed as a Bread Packer in our factory, you need a blend of technical aptitude and the right attitude:
· Numerical Ability: You must be proficient in converting units to calculate batch requirements accurately.
· Attention to Detail: Extreme precision is required for documentation and ensuring product quality.
· Process Knowledge: A solid understanding of the production process and quality management principles.
· Resilience: Ability to work in a challenging environment—hot, noisy, and exposed to maize dust.
· Teamwork: A collaborative spirit to work effectively within a diverse team.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
· Education: Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
· Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry is required. Candidates with bakery or production line experience will be preferred.
Working Conditions & Other Requirements
· Environment: Factory floor setting. Must be comfortable with heat, noise, and dust.
· Overtime: Flexibility is key. You will be required to work overtime, including after hours, weekends, and public holidays, to meet production deadlines.
· Pressure: This is a pressurised environment where speed and accuracy must coexist.
