About the Role: General Assistant
As a General Assistant, you will play a critical role in the supply chain of food safety. You will be responsible for ensuring that all food production areas, equipment, and general facilities are maintained to the highest standards of hygiene. This is a physically engaging role that requires vigilance, reliability, and a strong commitment to health and safety protocols.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs)
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include:
· Food Production Hygiene: Conducting thorough cleaning of food production areas, ensuring all equipment and utensils are sanitized according to industry standards.
· General Maintenance: Keeping common areas, break rooms, and walkways clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
· Equipment Care: Properly cleaning, maintaining, and storing all cleaning materials and equipment to ensure longevity and safety.
· Waste Management: Efficiently disposing of refuse and waste materials in compliance with environmental and health regulations.
· Safety Compliance: Actively contributing to a secure working environment by adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
· Productivity: Maintaining specified productivity levels to ensure tasks are completed within allocated schedules.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you must possess a blend of practical skills and the right attitude. The ideal candidate will be someone who takes pride in a job well done and understands the importance of cleanliness in the food industry.
Competencies and Skills Requirements
· Literacy & Numeracy: Basic literacy is essential to read instructions and communicate in the language of the workplace (English). Basic numeracy is required to understand work schedules and cleaning ratios.
· Visual Perception: A keen eye for detail is crucial. You must be able to perceive cleanliness accurately and identify areas that require attention.
· Technical Assembly: The ability to dismantle and reassemble basic kitchen equipment for deep cleaning purposes is a significant advantage.
· Physical Stamina: This role requires physical endurance. You must be comfortable lifting heavy items, bending, and standing for extended periods.
· Adaptability: A willingness to handle different areas or unexpected tasks as required by the Operations Manager.
Minimum Requirements
· Education: Grade 12 / Matric.
· Experience: Minimum of 1 (one) year of proven experience in a similar cleaning or general assistant role, preferably within a food or industrial environment.
