About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable General Assistant to join our dynamic team in Germiston. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of our canteen and kitchen by maintaining a clean, hygienic, and well-organised environment. This is a permanent position suited to an individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys interacting with customers.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, canteen, and all service areas to the highest standard.
· Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and other kitchen equipment efficiently.
· Assist with basic food preparation when required (minimal cooking involved).
· Serve food to customers during designated meal times with a friendly attitude.
· Operate the cash register and handle customer transactions accurately.
· Ensure all hygiene and safety standards are followed at all times.
· Provide general support to the kitchen and service team as needed.
Skills and Competencies
· Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but not essential – training will be provided.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
· High level of cleanliness and exceptional attention to detail.
· Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
Minimum Qualifications
· Matric (Grade 12) certificate is required.
