As a General Assistant, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management of your designated area. This goes beyond simply stacking shelves; you will be a brand ambassador, a problem-solver, and a key player in maintaining the integrity of our store layout. Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
· Education: Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one (1) year of work-related experience; OR a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate without prior work experience.
· Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and the dominant language spoken in the Dobsonville and Meadowlands East geographical area is essential for effective communication.
· Documentation: A valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
· Numeracy: Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
· Availability: Willing and able to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
· Resilience: Comfortable working under pressure in a high-traffic retail environment.
Key Performance Areas
- Customer Service Excellence
Your primary focus will be to ensure a positive experience for every customer. This includes:
· Actively advising and assisting customers in locating the correct products and answering queries regarding stock.
· Proactively assisting with and resolving customer complaints with patience and professionalism to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Merchandising Standards
Maintaining visual appeal and stock availability is critical. You will be responsible for:
· Merchandising the bulk stock area safely and in strict accordance with the store layout plan.
· Ensuring your designated area is fully stocked, visually appealing, and follows the prescribed planograms to optimize product placement and sales.
- Housekeeping and Maintenance
A clean store is a safe store. Your duties include:
· Maintaining your area free of obstacles, ensuring stock is merchandised immediately upon receipt to prevent hazards.
· Ensuring customers and colleagues can navigate aisles without risk of injury or irritation.
· Managing correct shelf price labelling within your area of responsibility.
· Completing the required checklists diligently when on duty, specifically regarding the canteen and toilet/shower schedules.
- Safety (OHSA) Compliance
Safety is a non-negotiable priority. You will:
· Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) compliance standards, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring customer and staff safety.
· Ensure that racking and bulk stock areas are merchandised safely to allow for smooth movement throughout the store.
· Report any safety discrepancies or hazards immediately to the Store Manager.
- Stock Loss Prevention
Protecting company assets is a shared responsibility. You must:
· Inspect stock regularly and report any damaged stock within your area to the Store Manager promptly to prevent loss.
