About the Role
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting daily store operations. Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:
- Grade 10 (or NQF Level 3) together with at least one year of relevant work experience.
- Grade 12 (Matric) with no previous work experience required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the local area.
- Valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
- Ability to perform basic numerical calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Ability to perform well in a busy, high-pressure retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant, your daily duties may include:
- Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional assistance.
- Helping customers locate products and answering general product-related questions.
- Resolving customer concerns or referring complex issues to store management.
- Replenishing shelves and ensuring products are displayed according to store merchandising standards.
- Organising stock in bulk storage areas safely and efficiently.
- Ensuring shelf labels and pricing are accurate and clearly displayed.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and hazard-free shopping environment.
- Completing assigned housekeeping duties, including scheduled cleaning tasks where required.
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures to protect customers and fellow employees.
- Reporting damaged stock, unsafe conditions, or merchandising concerns to management.
- Assisting with stock control activities to help minimise inventory losses.
