Job Purpose: The Face of Our Delivery Promise
The primary purpose of this role is to act as a vital link between Brights Hardware and our valued customers. You will be responsible for the accurate and punctual delivery of goods, ensuring every interaction leaves a positive impression. This role involves close coordination with branch staff, meticulous vehicle checks, and a commitment to handling stock with care. By providing exceptional customer service, you directly contribute to customer satisfaction, repeat business, and the sustainable growth of Brights Hardware.
Key Responsibilities: What You Will Do
As our Code 10 Driver, your day-to-day activities will be diverse and essential to our operations. You will be expected to:
· Deliver Excellent Customer Service: Represent Brights Hardware professionally at all times, ensuring a positive experience for every customer you interact with during deliveries.
· Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle meets basic roadworthy standards. Accurately record these checks on your trip sheet and immediately report any defects to your Supervisor using a vehicle repair report.
· Accurate Documentation: Ensure all outgoing stock is accompanied by the correct documentation before loading. Maintain a detailed logbook of all transferred documents and ensure receiving branches sign the transfer logbook to confirm receipt.
· Efficient Route Planning: Plan the most efficient delivery routes to manage time effectively and meet customer expectations.
· Team Coordination: Ensure that truck assistants remain with the vehicle at all times to guarantee security and efficiency during loading and offloading.
· Stock Integrity: Oversee the loading and offloading of transfers to ensure all goods are handled with care and delivered in excellent condition.
· Reporting & Communication: Complete daily trip sheets (recording opening/closing kilometres and departure/arrival times). Report any delays at branches to your Supervisor immediately and check in at the end of each shift.
· Adherence to Procedures: Participate in perpetual stock takes and perform any other work-related tasks delegated by your superior.
Qualifications and Requirements: What You Need
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
· Education:
· Matric (Grade 12) is required.
· Alternatively, candidates without Matric but with a valid driver’s licence and a minimum of 3 years’ driving experience will be considered.
· Licensing:
· Valid Code 10 Drivers Licence (a higher code will be an advantage).
· Valid PDP (Public Driving Permit) for both goods and passengers is essential.
· Experience:
· Minimum of 3 years’ proven driving experience.
· Core Competencies & Skills:
· Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.
· Strong monitoring and observational skills.
· A passion for delivering excellent customer service.
· High-level communication and reading skills.
· Solid understanding of vehicle loading principles to ensure safety and balance.
· Strong planning, time management, and organisational abilities.
