Minimum Requirements

Responsibilities include:
- Processing customer purchases accurately using the store’s till system.
- Receiving payments through accepted methods, including cash, bank cards, vouchers and coupons.
- Maintaining an accurate cash drawer and ensuring that money is kept secure.
- Following the correct procedures for cash deposits into the store’s drop safe.
- Handling refunds, exchanges and returned merchandise when authorised.
- Obtaining supervisor approval for price changes and voided transactions.
- Processing customer loyalty cards and applicable rewards programmes.
- Ensuring that all relevant items and outgoing stock are scanned and paid for.
- Answering customer questions about products, merchandise, current promotions and sales.
- Reporting customer complaints and positive feedback to the relevant supervisor or store manager.
- Following company security procedures and reporting suspicious activity.
- Protecting personal till codes and passwords from unauthorised access.
- Keeping cash-handling information confidential and reporting financial concerns to management.
- Following store policies and procedures to reduce errors, fraud risks and safety concerns.
- Maintaining professional relationships with customers and colleagues.
