The Cleaner will contribute directly to the quality of the environment in which Tsebo’s clients and their employees operate. The role requires someone who understands the importance of cleanliness, follows instructions carefully and can work effectively while maintaining professional standards.
Previous experience in the cleaning or hygiene industry would be advantageous, particularly for candidates who have worked as a Cleaner for at least one year. However, applicants should also demonstrate a willingness to follow established procedures and learn the specific requirements of the site where they are assigned.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to keep assigned areas clean, orderly and hygienic. Daily responsibilities may include cleaning toilets, offices, equipment and other designated areas, as well as ensuring that company or client property is treated with care.
The Cleaner will also be responsible for emptying dustbins and ensuring refuse is disposed of correctly. Recyclable paper waste must be collected in the designated recycling containers for collection by the appropriate recycling service.
Bathrooms will need to be inspected regularly, including twice-daily checks, with additional cleaning carried out whenever necessary. Other duties include dusting furniture, vacuuming carpets where applicable and cleaning interior windows according to the applicable service-level requirements.
Cleaning equipment and products must be used correctly and efficiently. At the end of cleaning activities, equipment and supplies should be returned neatly to their designated storage areas.
The successful applicant will also be required to comply with applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and follow all relevant company and client policies, procedures, quality standards and site-specific instructions.
Where applicable, employees may be required to use cleaning and hygiene technology systems such as I-Clean or E-San.
Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 qualification
- At least one year of cleaning experience is advantageous
- Basic understanding of hygiene principles and cleaning products
- Ability to operate different types of cleaning equipment
- Basic literacy and communication skills
- Understanding of workplace and client policies and procedures
- Basic customer-service skills
- Basic technological skills
- Knowledge of the layout of the relevant facility would be advantageous
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends and public holidays when required
- Ability to work extended hours when operational requirements demand it
Preference may be given to suitably qualified candidates who live in the local area where the position is based.
