Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a dedicated and energetic Casual Merchandiser to join its Boskruin store in Randburg. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring products are available, properly displayed, accurately priced, and easily accessible to customers. This position offers valuable retail experience within one of South Africa’s leading pharmacy and retail brands while providing exposure to stock management, merchandising operations, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
As a Casual Merchandiser, you will be responsible for maintaining high merchandising standards throughout the store. Daily duties will include replenishing stock, organizing merchandise, monitoring shelf availability, and ensuring products are displayed according to company guidelines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Replenishing shelves to ensure products remain available for customers.
- Receiving and placing stock in the correct locations within required timeframes.
- Monitoring product expiry dates and removing outdated stock when necessary.
- Maintaining full product ranges on shelves and reporting shortages.
- Following stock rotation procedures to ensure older stock is sold first.
- Reporting damaged, missing, expired, or low-stock items to management.
- Assisting with stock counts and inventory control activities.
- Ensuring shelves, displays, and promotional areas remain neat and attractive.
- Verifying that pricing labels and product information are accurate and visible.
- Reporting pricing discrepancies and stock concerns promptly.
- Supporting the setup and maintenance of promotional displays.
- Keeping designated stock areas clean, organized, and well maintained.
- Assisting with loading, unloading, and movement of stock within the store.
- Ensuring products without barcodes are clearly identified.
- Supporting back-shopping activities and general housekeeping duties.
- Assisting with the onboarding and training of new team members when required.
- Providing friendly, professional, and helpful customer service.
- Resolving customer stock enquiries and escalating issues when necessary.
- Following company policies, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements at all times.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:
Essential Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Up to six months of retail experience.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability and willingness to work retail trading hours.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Good interpersonal skills and a customer-focused attitude.
- Honest, reliable, and trustworthy character.
- Effective time management skills.
Advantageous Requirements
- One year or more of retail experience.
- Knowledge of merchandising practices and retail operations.
- Understanding of FMCG products and categories.
- Ability to communicate in more than one language.
- Familiarity with stock management and retail reporting systems.
