About the Role
As a Casual Cashier, you will play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers. You will accurately process purchases, handle various payment methods, maintain excellent customer service standards, and ensure every transaction is completed according to company procedures.
This position requires individuals who are honest, reliable, attentive to detail, and capable of working efficiently during busy trading periods while maintaining professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties may include:
- Processing customer purchases accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Accepting cash, card, vouchers, and other approved payment methods.
- Delivering friendly and professional customer service at all times.
- Assisting customers with payment-related questions and basic product enquiries.
- Handling authorised refunds and exchanges according to company procedures.
- Maintaining accurate cash balances throughout each shift.
- Reporting customer compliments, complaints, or concerns to supervisors.
- Following all security and cash-handling procedures.
- Protecting confidential financial information.
- Monitoring promotional offers and loyalty programme transactions.
- Ensuring all purchased items are correctly scanned before customers leave the store.
- Supporting store safety and helping identify suspicious activities when necessary.
- Working closely with supervisors and colleagues to maintain efficient checkout operations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- At least six months of cashier or till operating experience.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Good numerical and cash-handling skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Customer service experience.
- Willingness to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
