Job Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and customer-focused Cashier to join our retail team in Longmeadow. In this mid-level role, you will be responsible for managing accurate financial transactions, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining the efficiency of our checkout operations. The ideal candidate possesses a Grade 12 qualification and a minimum of two years of cashiering experience specifically within a back-office environment. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless daily transactions, from processing payments to balancing cash registers at the end of each shift.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate cash registers efficiently, processing cash, credit, and other digital payments with precision.
· Scan merchandise accurately to ensure correct pricing and prevent discrepancies.
· Handle cash, issue change, process refunds, and provide receipts or tickets as required.
· Manage customer loyalty programs by redeeming stamps, coupons, and vouchers.
· Engage with customers by greeting them warmly upon arrival and departure, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
· Promote cross-sell opportunities by introducing new products and informing customers about ongoing promotions.
· Address and resolve customer complaints professionally, providing guidance and relevant information to ensure satisfaction.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and tidy checkout area to uphold store standards.
· Perform merchandise returns and exchanges in accordance with store policies.
· Assist with bagging, boxing, or gift-wrapping purchases to enhance customer convenience.
· Track all transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies immediately to management.
· Conduct daily cash ups and prepare detailed cash-up reports to ensure financial accuracy.
· Provide support to other store areas as needed, contributing to overall team success.
Minimum Requirements:
· Grade 12 or Matric qualification is essential.
· A minimum of two years of proven experience working as a cashier, specifically within a back-office capacity.
· Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers.
· Ability to handle customer complaints with patience and professionalism.
· Trustworthiness and integrity when handling cash and financial records.
