Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Call Order Cook to perform general cooking duties using standardized recipes. In this role, you will be responsible for meal preparation, cooking, and providing essential support to the Chef. You will also assist in maintaining kitchen sanitation and ensuring all food production meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Order Fulfillment: Take customer orders and prepare food according to their specific requests.
· Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare and cook meats, fish, vegetables, gravies, cereals, soups, fruits, bakery items, and other food products.
· Special Diets: Prepare meals for special dietary requirements using recipes formulated by qualified personnel.
· Workflow Coordination: Plan and manage work orders to ensure all components of a meal are finished and served simultaneously.
· Training Support: Assist in on-the-job training and guide food service workers, students, and other employees within the kitchen area.
· Food Safety & Sanitation: Clean kitchen utensils, equipment, and work areas. Ensure the proper securing of refrigerators and freezers. Maintain maximum standards of sanitation and safety at all times.
· Inventory Management: Notify the supervisor of food and supply needs; assist in checking in deliveries.
· Quality Control: Promptly report any issues regarding equipment or food quality to the kitchen manager.
· Recipe Adherence: Strictly use Standardized Recipe Cards for preparing all products.
· General Assistance: Assist in the preparation of salads, desserts, and perform grilling, cooking, and frying duties as required.

· Independence: Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
· Communication: Clear and effective communication with kitchen managers and team members.
· Customer Focus: Commitment to meeting customer expectations through quality food service.
· Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple orders and tasks simultaneously without compromising quality.
· Attention to Detail: Precision in following recipes, portion control, and food presentation.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods.
Qualifications and Experience
· Education: Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
· Certification: A relevant culinary or cooking qualification is required.
· Experience:
· Minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
· At least 6 months of experience in a similar capacity or role.
