Job Overview

Sasol is offering an exciting 12-month Administration Learnership aimed at unemployed young South Africans who have completed Grade 12 and are looking to gain valuable workplace experience while developing practical business and administrative skills.

The programme is designed to provide participants with a combination of structured theoretical learning and practical workplace exposure. Successful learners will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation in administration, communication, customer service, business operations, computer skills and basic accounting while gaining experience in a professional corporate environment.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for young people who are starting their careers and want to develop workplace readiness before entering the broader employment market.

About the Learnership

The Sasol Administration Learnership combines classroom-based theoretical training with practical on-site experience. Over the 12-month programme, learners will participate in activities designed to strengthen their professional abilities and understanding of how organisations operate.

The theoretical component forms part of an NQF-aligned learnership programme and covers several important areas, including entrepreneurship, business operations, customer service, business accounting, mathematical literacy, communication and computer skills.

During the practical workplace component, learners will provide administrative assistance to managers and departments. This exposure will allow participants to develop an understanding of everyday office processes while improving their ability to work effectively in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

As an Administration Learner, participants can expect to:

  • Take part in the structured 12-month learnership programme.
  • Complete assigned theoretical learning and assessments.
  • Participate in workplace-readiness activities and practical exercises.
  • Provide general administrative support to managers and departments.
  • Assist with activities that contribute to efficient departmental operations.
  • Develop practical knowledge of business and administrative processes.
  • Apply newly acquired computer, communication and business skills in the workplace.
  • Follow company policies, procedures and established work processes.
  • Work towards successfully completing all required programme assessments.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A completed National Senior Certificate (Grade 12/Matric).
  • Be between 18 and 29 years old.
  • Be currently unemployed.
  • Not be studying, either full-time or part-time.
  • Be willing to participate fully in both the theoretical and practical components of the learnership.

Applicants should also be prepared to learn, adapt to a professional working environment and take responsibility for completing programme requirements.

Skills and Development

The programme provides learners with an opportunity to strengthen several important workplace competencies. These include workflow management, action planning, understanding policies and procedures, coordinating tasks and improving performance.

Sasol also places emphasis on personal development and professional behaviour. Learners are expected to demonstrate accountability, self-awareness, adaptability and a willingness to learn. The programme can therefore help participants develop not only technical administration skills but also the professional behaviours needed to succeed in the workplace.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

For a young person who has completed Matric but has limited or no formal work experience, a structured learnership can provide an important first step into the working world.

The combination of theoretical education and practical workplace exposure can help learners understand professional expectations, improve their confidence and develop transferable skills that may be useful in future administrative, customer service, business or office-support positions.

The programme also offers exposure to a major South African organisation and gives successful candidates the opportunity to experience a structured corporate working environment.
