The successful candidate will become part of the Business & Industry division, supporting daily catering operations through food preparation, meal service, cleaning, and stock handling. About the Role
As a Food Service Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring customers receive quality meals in a clean and welcoming environment. You will assist kitchen staff with preparing and serving food while following all hygiene, health, and safety requirements. This position requires someone who is dependable, organised, and committed to providing friendly customer service every day.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties may include:
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks.
- Helping with meal assembly before service.
- Serving food and beverages professionally.
- Keeping serving stations clean, tidy, and well-stocked.
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout kitchen and dining areas.
- Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assisting with receiving, storing, and rotating stock.
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods.
- Responding politely to customer questions and requests.
- Performing general cleaning and sanitation duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants should have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Between one and two years of experience in a similar food service or catering role.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights.
