Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, timely, and efficient collection and delivery of stock to customers. The successful applicant will be responsible for transporting products to various destinations while maintaining accurate delivery records and ensuring company vehicles remain in excellent operating condition.
In addition to driving responsibilities, the position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high service standards during every customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
As a Driver Code 10, your daily duties will include:
- Carrying out a complete vehicle inspection before every trip to ensure the vehicle is safe and roadworthy.
- Reporting any vehicle faults, accidents, or mechanical issues to the Branch Manager without delay.
- Planning efficient travel routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure deliveries are completed on time.
- Assisting with loading stock alongside the dispatch team and confirming that goods match the delivery documentation before departure.
- Delivering stock safely and accurately to customers.
- Collecting customer signatures as proof of delivery for company records.
- Completing all delivery-related paperwork accurately after each trip.
- Communicating professionally with customers and helping resolve delivery-related concerns where possible.
- Keeping the delivery vehicle clean and presentable at all times.
- Monitoring vehicle service schedules and informing management when maintenance is required.
- Reporting delivery delays or operational challenges to management promptly.
- Following all company health, safety, and security procedures while performing daily duties.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification.
- A valid South African Code 10 driver’s licence.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- At least three years of professional driving experience.
- Confidence in using GPS navigation devices.
- Basic understanding of warehouse and stock handling procedures.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices and the correct use of protective clothing.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
