Key Responsibilities
As a Driver responsible for vehicles up to 16001kg, your primary objective will be to execute delivery schedules with precision while upholding the company’s reputation for reliability. Your duties will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
Delivery Execution & Stock Management
· Timely Delivery of Goods: You will be responsible for transporting a variety of building supplies and hardware to customer sites, ensuring that delivery timelines are consistently met.
· Loading Supervision: You will actively supervise and assist with the loading process to ensure that all items are packed neatly and securely. This is essential to prevent in-transit damages and breakages.
· Quantity Verification: You will be accountable for supplying correct quantities and supplies as per the delivery notes. Accuracy in stock handling reduces return trips and enhances customer satisfaction.
Vehicle Maintenance & Safety
· Daily Inspection Checks: Before any route commences, you will conduct thorough daily inspections of the vehicle, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, lights, and mechanical functionality.
· Defect Reporting: You are required to report any vehicle defects immediately to management. Proactive maintenance ensures the safety of the vehicle and the driver.
· Vehicle Upkeep: Maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the vehicle is a key aspect of this role. You will ensure the vehicle is in pristine condition, reflecting the company’s professional image.
· Cost Reduction: You will play a vital role in reducing operational costs by driving efficiently, minimizing fuel consumption, and preventing unnecessary wear and tear on the vehicle.
Administrative & Financial Duties
· Delivery Note Authorizations: You will be responsible for obtaining valid signatures and authorizations on delivery notes upon completion of each delivery.
· Collecting COD Monies: Where applicable, you will handle the collection of Cash on Delivery (COD) payments. Accuracy, security, and strict adherence to company cash-handling policies are mandatory.

Requirements
To be considered for this permanent driving position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
· Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
· Licensing: A valid Driver’s License specifically authorizing the operation of trucks weighing 16001kg. (Code EC or C with appropriate professional driving permit).
· Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar driving role, preferably within the hardware, construction, or logistics sector.
· Skills: Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, excellent time management, and the ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks.
