Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
· Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
· Experience: A minimum of six months of proven experience in cashier or till operations.
· Computer Skills: Computer literate, specifically with MS Office applications.
· Numerical Skills: Must have sound numerical abilities to handle transactions accurately.
· Communication: Strong command of the English language, both written and oral.
· Customer Service: Basic understanding and application of customer service principles.
· Availability: Willing and able to work retail hours, which may include weekends and public holidays.
Job Description and Responsibilities
As a Casual Cashier at Dis-Chem Jabulani Mall, you will be entrusted with a variety of critical tasks that ensure the smooth operation of the frontline. Your primary responsibility will be to record and process customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, strictly adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures. You will be the face of the company at the checkout, and as such, you will establish and maintain professional relationships with every customer. You are expected to be fully aware of current sales, promotions, and loyalty programs to enhance the customer’s shopping experience. Handling cash flow with integrity is paramount; you will be responsible for ensuring all money is kept securely in the till and that cash drops are performed according to standard operating procedures. You will process all forms of payment, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons, and accurately manage loyalty cards for partners such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks. Security and risk awareness are non-negotiable; you must be alert and report any suspicious behavior to management immediately. You will also handle line voids and price changes, ensuring they are approved and signed off by a supervisor. When authorized, you will manage merchandise exchanges and returns. Furthermore, you must safeguard your unique till code and password, ensuring it is used only by you, kept safe, and changed regularly to prevent fraud. Addressing customer queries regarding merchandise and reporting all feedback to the Frontline Supervisor or store management will be part of your daily duties, ensuring a continuous loop of communication and service improvement.

Advantageous Qualifications
